Watercraft at West Beach (April 1-October 1)
Kayaks, Paddleboards, and Canoes may be stored on the SBPOA Racks, one watercraft per rack spot. Everyone must complete and submit a Rack Application and pay the rack fee to obtain a spot on the SBPOA racks. If you had a spot in 2024, followed the 2024 SBPOA kayak rack rules, and your membership renewal, rack application, and watercraft fee(s) are received before April 1, 2025, you may keep the same spot(s) as last season. Otherwise, rack assignments will be made according to availability.
Limit: one kayak, paddleboard, or canoe per rack spot.
Note: Larger or heavier watercraft (e.g., rowboats, small sailboats) cannot be stored on the racks. These watercraft must be stored east of the bulkheads, labeled with the member's tag number, and secured so that it will not break free in a storm. Complete a Larger Watercraft Application and pay the storage fee to keep these watercraft on SBPOA property. One larger or heavier watercraft permitted per membership.
Fillable applications can be emailed to membership@sbpoa.org or printed and sent with a check to: SBPOA Membership, PO Box 213, Sound Beach, NY 11789-0213.
Membership is for the fiscal year January 1 through December 31 of the current year, independent of date membership dues are paid.
Beach Guards cannot accept payment for memberships.
Partial or pro-rated memberships are not accepted at any time.
Membership is non-refundable.
Membership provides for a discounted rental rate for our clubhouse facilities for your private parties. Make sure you click on the clubhouse tab to learn of all the amenities at the clubhouse.
Membership includes 5 tags which are your credentials to access the beautiful 1-1/4-mile Long Island Sound shoreline using the SBPOA East or West Beach Stairs. Stair access is membership-only year round.
Members can secure a spot on the racks for their kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards on our West Beach bulkhead. Storage racks are for members only on a first-come, first-served basis as space allows. Each kayak rack spot (based on availability) incurs a $25 fee.
A kayak rack application must be submitted before a spot will be assigned.
If you are interested in a place on the rack, contact Desiree Nigro at sbkayaks@gmail.com. Kayaks and other watercraft must be removed from the racks at the end of the season no later than October 1.
The SBPOA is an organization entrusted with the care and maintenance of the beach access, parkland and our clubhouse.
Membership gives you easy beach access for your family and out-of-town visitors. We have roped off swimming areas at two beaches with lifeguards during the summer season. Benches at the top of the SBPOA stairs are prime viewing spots for spectacular sunsets. Our parklands and staircases to the beach belong to this private community-based organization that was established in 1929.
The facilities of SBPOA are maintained only through membership dues. Therefore only members and non-resident guests are permitted to use them.
RESIDENTS OF SOUND BEACH WHO CHOOSE NOT TO BE MEMBERS CANNOT BE GUESTS ON YOUR TAGS.
We welcome new and renewing members from our local area.
